That is the reason behind the bad state of affairs in U.P”, he alleged.

So the policies with long-term vision are the main factor for development”.

They scripted the slogan sitting inside big bungalows. They did not realize the reality. The shining may be visible at those leaders’ houses who had coined this slogan but not the villages. And the people gave them a befitting reply by electing an aam aadmi Government of the Congress”, he added taking a dig at BJP and NDA.

But in U.P under Mayawati Government if a poor farmer sells his land and asks for adequate compensation he got bullets and labeled as Naxal. In Tappal and Bhatta-Parsaul striking farmers were assaulted by the BSP Government. Mayawatiji did not go there. I went there, listened to them and understood their problems. The Congress led Government at the centre drafted a new Land Acquisition Bill. But some parties have been trying to block it behind the closed doors of the Parliament”. “She also did not found it proper to visit Bundelkhand too” said Rahul Gandhi referring his visit to Bundelkhand and the subsequent relief package sanctioned by the Central Government. Referring the news paper reports regarding the misuse of Bundelkhand funds he said “I read it in today’s news paper that some minister purchased tractors using the funds sent by the Centre under Bundelkhand package. To prove his point he cited an example “I went to a hospital in UP where some painting and renovation works were going on. I went inside. There were no doctors, patients or nurses. Dogs were scampering inside. I asked them what is going on. They said that Mayawati is on a tour to this area and she will be visiting the hospital and therefore the renovation. Government should use these funds properly for the welfare of the people and the state. It should provide roads, education and health security. The roads in UP last only for three months all that is left is gutters and potholes. In fact the funds meant for you are being looted,” he rued. He then shared one of his experiences. “Few days back I went to a village and asked them whether they got any funds under Indira Vikas. Some people nodded that they got it. But suddenly one lady got up and said that she also got the money but had to pay Rs 10,000 as bribe. One other lady also said the same thing. Mayawati govt. did not protect interests of poor women: Congress (I)
Launching scathing attack on UP Chief Minister for large scale financial irregularities in central sponsored NRHM scheme leading to murder of three government doctors dealing with the funds, Congress (I) has said Mayawati government failed to protect even the interests of poor women for whom Center has sent a number of social welfare and health care schemes. Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) (Safe Motherhood Delivery) is one such scheme under National Rural Health Mission. The scheme is meant to encourage institutional delivery of pregnant women for which Rs 1400 are given to each woman as incentive. But even in this scheme there was scam of Rs 28 crore. For instance in one case a women is shown to have delivered twice in five months. But on scrutiny it was found that the second delivery was bogus. Most bizarre case came to notice in Allahabad district where 619 unmarried girls were shown to have delivered and amount was fraudulently claimed in their names.
