Hitting hard against Mayawati of BSP and Mulayam Singh Yadav of SP for ruling the state over last 22 years by offering empty promises to the people, Congress (I) General Secretary RahulGandhi has said these parties along with BJP has kept Uttar Pradesh captive of their vote bank politics. As a result these parties have deprived the people of the state of the benefits of progress and development, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing public meeting at Soraon on February 11 for ongoing Assembly elections. All these parties have been promising development to the people but have not done anything over last 22 years. “Did Mayawati bring development in your village,” he asked the audience. Mulayam Singh Yadav is has promised to provide free and uninterrupted power supply for 24 hours though he did not start a single power project during his - not one but three - tenures as chief ministers, he said. Not sparing BJP either, he said it fooled the people with false ‘India Shining’ slogan while actually there was gloom, poverty and hunger in their houses. Highlighting that Congress (I) does not believe in giving promises which it cannot fulfill, Rahul Gandhi assured that his party would work for progress and development of the people of Uttar Pradesh. Urging them this time to vote for his party he assured that Congress (I) will do for them in five years what the other parties miserably failed to do in the last 22 years.
