Rahul Gandhi: Congress working for economic development of Bundelkhand

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has been concerned about plight of people of Bundelkhand.  This region is underdeveloped and has been draught affected for a number of years.  The Mayawati’s BSP government has not done anything to improve the condition of people of this area.   Rahul Gandhi personally visited this area in 2009 and was moved by the poverty of the people.  Congress General Secretary by his efforts got a special package of Rs 8,000 crores sanctioned from central government for development of Bundelkhand.  However, UP government has only half heartedly executed the schemes meant for the area. Bores for tube-wells were dug but there is no water in them.  BPL cards for those living below poverty line have not been made available to them who deserve the most. As a result the plight of the people remains as it was before.  Recently on a visit to the areas Rahul Gandhi found that roads were in bad conditions.  The farmers were not getting fair price for their produce even after minimum price had been announced by the government.
