Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi in Saharanpur (U.P) Part 3

Addressing a mammoth rally in the Saharanpur district of the poll bound Uttar Pradesh All India congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi lashed out at Mayawati for the rampant corruption in the state. Rahul Gandhi alleged that whenever the Congress led Government at the centre makes policies for the welfare of the poor Mayawati terms it as a drama of Congress. He was on the final day of his five-day tour to Uttar Pradesh campaigning for the Congress in the state.
Rahul Gandhi cited one of his personal experiences. “I went to a hospital in UP where some painting and renovation works were going on. I went inside. There were no doctors, patients or nurses. Four-five dogs were scampering inside. I asked them what is going on. They said that Mayawati is on a tour to this area and she will be visiting the hospital and therefore the renovation. As she was expected to take the road route from the helipad the roads were being repaired and the hospital building was being painted. This is the state of affairs in your state.” “Here the roads last only for three months. The funds meant for the welfare schemes or roads are being eaten up by the elephant” repeated Rahul Gandhi.
“I come to you. I share your meals. Drink water from your well and sometimes even fall ill. I have kept on doing this for the past seven years. All because I want to know the real issues of the poor and aam aadmi,” he said amidst cheers of acknowledgement.
Taking another swipe at both Mayawati and Mulayam Rahul Gandhi said, “when we decided to give reservation to the minorities both Mayawati and Mulayam did not utter a word.” “Mulayam Singhji claims to be supporter of minorities but whenever the Congress raised the issue of reservation he remained silent. But the same Mulayam joined hands with Kalyan Singh before the last assembly polls. When people and the media asked him about minority reservation he remained silent. He remained silent when the Congress was deciding on quota within quota for backward Muslims. But after the Congress introduced reservation, Mulayam Singh Yadav suddenly came forward and said that the percentage was inadequate,” Rahul Gandhi told the gathering. “If the reservation is inadequate why did not they do it during their regime in U.P? Why there is no promise of reservation in its manifesto?” he asked.
