Lashing out at Mayawati for running the most corrupt government and not giving attention to the issues of the poor, Congress hoped that that its General Secretary Rahul Gandhi’s connect with the poor in their villages and houses has helped Congress to gain advantage in Uttar Pradesh.

‘There is nobody to listen to the poor, but I will hear you”, Rahul Gandhi had said while addressing various public rallies in the state of Uttar Pradesh as part of his Congress campaign. To understand their problems on the ground the Congress leader has been reaching out to the poor. Rahul Gandhi’s frequent visits to the villages and mingling with the people have given the poor a sense of assurance that Congress (I) is sincerely attending to their issues. The poor feel that Mayawati shut the door on them after becoming chief minister.

“We (Congress) do not talk about caste or religion; we talk about the issues of the poor and the aam admi,” Rahul Gandhi has been continuously telling the people.  This has connected the masses with Congress (I). Highlighting that Mayawati’s greed for maya has blinded her towards the problems of the people, Rahul Gandhi said that Mayawati does not meet the poor nor does she cares about their problems.
