Needless to say, today the frontal organizations of the Congress like the Youth Congress and the National Students’ Union of India, have already switched gears in matters related to memberships and selection of candidates for contesting election. Unlike other parties, it is not the ‘connection within’ the party that helps one to get nomination for either organizational posts or for contesting polls.
Thus, efforts of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi to make the system within the party ‘democratic and transparent without any space for any influence from above and favours both at horizontal and vertical levels of the rank and file, have been unmatched, compared to all other political parties.
Soon after the declaration of UP assembly poll results, Rahul Gandhi had told the media in New Delhi, "Organisationally Congress is weak in Uttar Pradesh. We will have to look into this fact. Lot more to be done. I will continue that ".
Rahul Gandhi added further, "I will continue my work as I promised to the people of UP.” The Congress will focus on improving its organizational structure in the state, Rahul Gandhi said and without any hitch remarked honestly and without any hang-ups, “Our fundamentals were weak."
Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is the new face of the Indian politics and sooner than later, people would be more mature to make real distinction as who is what and definitely for whose interest, according to political observers. Rahul Gandhi’s well-intended aspirations would what the nation today needs desperately, for being a ‘democratic and welfare state’, in matters to be fairly and honestly summed up as “good governance by the people, for the people and of the people.”
