Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi visited Allahabad on Wednesday to attend a series of programmes organised by different institutions. Rahul Gandhi arrived at Bamrauli airport at around 1pm and was received by state Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi and other Congress leaders.
Rahul Gandhi went straight to the Kamla Nehru Memorial hospital where he dedicated a Micro Selectron HDR Brachytherapy Equipment and Oncentra Master Plan 3 D External Beam, IMRT TPS for Cancer Treatment machine to the nation. He also inaugurated the Rajiv Gandhi wing in the hospital comprising ICU, nephro Dialysis unit and care and post operative ward.
The Congress MP from Amethi also interacted with the faculty members and staff of the hospital and attended a cultural programme organised by the Nehru Memorial Trust. Rahul Gandhi also visited his ancestral home, Swaraj Bhawan, where he met several delegations of local leaders. A delegation of Congressmen, National Students Union of India and trade union leaders also called on Rahul Gandhi and gave him a memorandum.
From Swaraj Bhawan, Rahul Gandhi went to a slum in Pura Padain and interacted with the slum dwellers. After that the congress leader visited GB Pant Social Science Institute, Jhunsi, where he was scheduled to take part in a Lokgyani conference on the theme 'Democracy and Dreams of the Marginals'. Intellectuals of various marginalised communities and community leaders involved in social reforms participated in the seminar.
