Congress General Secretary and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi will be visiting his Parliamentary constituency Amethi from Thursday. The two-day visit comes at a time when the Congress party has decided to take some serious measures for strengthening the organisation ahead of 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Senior leaders, including Union ministers, are being given responsibility as conveners for different zones in a move to revive the party ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. The newly-appointed PCC chief Nirmal Khatri will be coordinating with the regional in-charges on a regular basis.
AICC sources said the new arrangement is being worked out for better coordination and to accommodate all sections. For each zone there will be a separate incharge who will work in coordination with newly appointed PCC chief.
Rahul Gandhi has been taking special interest in Uttar Pradesh where he had led the Congress campaign in the last Assembly polls. In the last Lok Sabha polls also Rahul Gandhi has spearheaded the campaign in which Congress had a spectacular performance winning seats more than expected.
