Sonia Gandhi in Karnataka: BJP is just pretending to fight corruption

Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi while addressing a Congress rally in Mangalore in Karnataka said that the BJP is just pretending to fight corruption. “We all know that corruption is a disease; it is a cancer that has spread throughout our society. It hurts more the poor people and the ordinary citizen. But I want to say that no other party has done what the Congress and UPA has done to fight corruption. It was the Congress which brought the RTI legislation. Not the NDA. And it is through the RTI, many of these corruption and scandals are coming out. We brought RTI because we genuinely want to fight corruption. Together with RTI a number of legislations to curb corruption have been brought. We wanted to pass the Lokpal Bill and we passed it in the Lok Sabha but who stopped it in Rajya Sabha? It was the BJP which stopped it. Then you tell me whether BJP is really serious to fight corruption or they are just pretending to fight corruption” said Sonia Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi further asked, “I want to ask the BJP; I want you to ask them what is happening in the states ruled by the BJP. What is the situation in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand? These are the questions you must ask the BJP and you should get an answer from them. And eventually, I am sure, that the people of Karnataka will deliver the correct answer to this corrupt government in the state”.
