Sonia Gandhi slams Modi Govt. for the slow progress of Sardar Sarovar Project

Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday kick-started her party’s election campaign in Gujarat with a big farmers rally in Rajkot. “It was the Congress that had initiated the development process in Gujarat. Who made the water canal project of taking the water from Narmada to Gujarat and other places in the state? It was the Congress under the leadership of Nehru Ji which started it. And the project was named after the great son of Gujarat Sardar Vallabhai Patel – Sardar Sarovar Yojana. The idea behind this important project was to help the people, especially the farmers in the state. Why the Narmada water hasn't yet reached Saurashtra? The people here are facing acyte scarcity of water. Farmers are committing suicides” said Sonia Gandhi.
