Sonia Gandhi in Karnataka defends FDI, says BJP is anti-farmer

Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi while addressing a Congress rally in Mangalore in Karnataka said that the BJP is attacking the Congress just for the sake of attacking. She also slammed THE bjp by saying that it never took any serious action to fight corruption. “Now why they are attacking us? Just for the sake of attacking us” said the Congress President. “I would say they are not cared for the farmers but we on the other hand want farmers to get the better prices. By allowing FDI in retail we are ensuring a direct linking between the farmers and the market and also we will enable the consumers to pay the lower prices. New jobs as well as new infrastructure will be created. I just learnt about the hardships of the farmers here who are engaged in the cultivation of arecanut and many parts of your state are still under severe drought. The UPA Government has already sanctioned Rs. 700 crores to the state but again I will forward the requests received from the farmers seeking more assistance, to the central government” said Sonia Gandhi.
