Sonia Gandhi in Surat lists out Congress’ efforts for development of Tribals

Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi addressed a mammoth election rally at Mandvi (Surat) in South Gujarat on Friday as part of her campaign for the upcoming assembly elections in the state. She took on the Modi-led BJP government in the state and said that the people are fed up with the present state government. Sonia Gandhi said “The welfare and development of Adivasis are our prime concern but the present BJP government has not been serious in this matter. They have almost killed the co-operative movement in Adivasi areas. The Congress government also had made a number of irrigation projects on the state for the benefit of the farmers. You must be remembering that the UPA Government at the Centre had waived off loan worth crores of poor farmers but still the condition of the farmers in Gujarat remains pathetic because of the anti-people policies of the BJP government here. We also took various other measures like increasing the MSP for the farmers”.
