Sonia Gandhi strikes chord with the people in Mangalore

Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Thursday gave a clarion call to party leaders and workers in Karnataka to completely sink their differences and work as a unit to bring the Congress party back to power in the State. The visit of the UPA chairperson to the State could not have come at a better time than now when the ruling BJP is facing a series of problems. She addressed a Congress workers’ convention organized by the Indian National Congress and the state unit of Congress at Nehru Maidan in Mangalore. “Whenever we were united, we swept the elections. There is a need to recapture the spirit of unity and solidarity, which the party workers had shown way back in 1977, to give a political rebirth to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi,” said Sonia Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi also visited the Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara temple in the city and inaugurated the centenary celebrations, Mangalore Dussehra and the elevator at the temple premises. She called upon people to uphold the concept of one caste, one religion and one world, propagated by Brahmashri Narayanaguru, who was the driving force behind the Kudroli temple.
