Rahul Gandhi urges Congress leaders to counter false propaganda with facts

New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday urged his party leaders to fight the BJP’s half truths and negative campaign with facts and ideology. The young Congress vice-president compared India to a computer, saying Congress was its default programme.

Rahul Gandhi, along with party colleagues Manish Tewari, Ajay Maken, Deepender Singh Hooda, Priya Dutt and Shashi Tharoor, addressed the Congress's workshop to train spokespersons on the best way to use social media platforms. He emphasised the need to send out a positive message based on the party's ideology.
Apart from the PCC representatives, several volunteers who have contributed their views to defend and promote the Congress on social media also participated in the one-day workshop in the Capital.

In the meeting Rahul Gandhi only gave ideological view about the way party should fight the BJP; he didn't name anyone in particular."We shouldn't break the decorum. Whatever the provocation we shouldn't cross the line. Maintain the line of decency," Rahul Gandhi said. He asked Congress leaders not to get provoked by the BJP and to counter them with facts."We should go well prepared. There is no place for anger. Our country is known for tolerance," further said Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress's communication chief, Ajay Maken, who asked others to not give "too much" importance and attention to Modi, also justified the need to respond to him with facts and figures because of the media attention he has been receiving. The Congress will also be replicating its communication wings at the Centre and in the states for a more formalised, effective and coordinated message across the country.
