India’s youth icon and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has brought new dynamism in the country’s politics. He does not confine his activities to the rounds of Parliament and its committees. He believes that the best way to understand the issues being faced by the folks is to visit the people facing the issues. So he has been walking from village to village in affected areas to know the problems of the masses. He meets people where they are. He talks to them. He takes their views. He also offers his views. He asks suggestions from them – whether they are farmers, landless laborers, artisans, women or students – as to how best the issues can be resolved. This gives him lot of valuable in-puts to work on. His vision is one India and not two Indias. As he has said BJP’s ‘India Shining’ slogan was discarded by the people at large in 2004 general elections. Within the elite structure of the society in urban pockets only, India was shining. He has said, “We believe in the ideology of uplift of the poor and the down-trodden.”
