Congress (I) has said Mayawati seems to have realized that days of her BSP government are short and even getting murkier as scores of corruption and crime cases against her ministers and legislators are coming out in the public. Instead of tidying up the government, streamlining the administrative machinery and undertaking welfare schemes for poor she is building parks and statues. She is claiming short of funds to meet the outbreak of viral encephalitis which has killed hundred of children. But at the same time she is playing host for the Formula One, which the elite sport. This is an event where the State Government has granted a tax exemption to the organizing company. In no way the Formula One serve to better the society that it should deserve a tax exemption. This is an event whose venue has been created by forceful acquisition of agricultural land and goes on to get a tax exemption. All this shows Mayawati has no commitment towards welfare of the people of the state, said Congress (I).
