Rahul Gandhi: Promises are of no use unless fulfilled

Lashing out at the non-Congress parties like SP and BSP for throwing lofty promises at the people during elections, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that promises are of no use unless fulfilled. Such promises are only scrap of paper, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting in Lucknow as part of his Congress campaign in Uttar Pradesh.
These non-Congress parties have been giving promises of development to the people for the past two decades, but have never fulfilled them, blamed the Congress leader. “The money which the Congress-led central government has been sending for welfare and developmental schemes was swindled by Mayawati as well as Mulayam Singh governments. As a result while other states ruled by Congress (I) such as Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi and Haryana are fast growing, no development has taken place in UP under non-Congress government”, said Rahul Gandhi.
“I am 40 years of age and have spent half of my life listening to false promises of the political parties,” said Rahul Gandhi. Arguing that these non-Congress parties have been cheating the people and wasted 22 precious years, the Congress General Secretary asked the people to vote for a change this time and assured that Congress (I), if voted to power, will put the state on fast track development. “We (Congress) will do all that these non-Congress parties failed to do in the last 22 years,” promised Rahul Gandhi.
