Sonia Gandhi: People of Karnataka want a change, they have faith in Congress


Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi attended a Congress delegates meeting in Tumkur, Karnataka and urged the Congress workers to prepare themselves for the coming assembly polls in the state. She was on a two-day visit to the state. Sonia Gandhi also had visited the drought-hit areas in the state and also had offered all possible help to the people in the affected areas.
While addressing the Congress workers Sonia Gandhi said “The people of Karnataka want a change, they want a change from the corruption of the BJP, they want a change from the divisive communal policies of the BJP”.
The Congress President then referred to the recent victory of the Congress in the parliament ny-poll in the state and said “Our (Congress’s) recent victory in the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha by-election reflects this desire for change. I congratulate Jayaprakash Hegde ji, the party workers and our senior colleagues. I thank the voters who have reposed their confidence in our Party”.
Exudingt confidence among the Congress cadres, Sonia Gandhi continued “What this victory shows is that when we have the right candidate and when our entire party organisation works together, no one can defeat us. Indira Gandhi’s victory in Chikmagalur heralded the revival of the Congress in 1978”
The Congress President also said that she is confident that this recent victory too heralds the revival of the Congress in Karnataka.
