Sonia Gandhi at Raebareli, inaugurates Rail coach factory, assures more


New Delhi: Congress President and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday inaugurated a modern rail coach factory in her Lok Sabha constituency, Rae Bareli. Sonia Gandhi also handed over appointment letters to farmers whose land was used for the project. She also laid the foundation stone for the doubling of Raebareli-Utratiya rail line and a multifunctional complex in Raebareli.
Apart from the coach factory, the Congress President also announced various other development projects in Raebareli. “The laying of foundation stones for doubling the 65 km long Raebareli-Utratiya rail line and a multifunctional complex were also done. Further the modernization of Raebareli railway station has also begun aiming to provide the passengers with more facilities.  A new rail line will be laid between Raebareli-Akbarganj and Amethi-Unchchahar. Apart from the expansion and renovation of platform in Raebareli railway station, the electrification of Mugal Sarai-Uchchahar railway line also will be completed soon. The Allahabad-Phaphamau rail line will be doubled”.
Sonia Gandhi also expressed hope that the new rail coach factory will provide job opportunities to the local residents, youth and farmers who have given their land for this project and would add to the development of the area. 
The Rae Bareli coach factory is expected to cater to Railways’ increasing demand by annually rolling out about 1,000 coaches. Sonia Gandhi also informed that the coaches from the Rae Bareli coach factory will have more modern amenities for the passengers. 
Railways had acquired 541 hectares for the coach manufacturing factory. The foundation stone for the Rae Bareli rail coach factory was laid by Sonia Gandhi on February 13, 2007 and the inauguration for construction of the factory was done by her on January 27, 2009.
