Sonia Gandhi speech at 126th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Jawaharlal Nehru


Congress President Sonia Gandhi began her speech by paying condolence against Paris attack last night & said that we all were and are together to fight against terrorism. Further she spoke about how PT. Nehru sacrificed his life for our country. She said whenever people try plotting against our country there's always someone to stand tall as a ray of hope to protect the nation & Pt. Nehru was one of the brightest ray to have fought against Britishers in hope to see an independent India. She said pt. Nehru could have led a lavish and comfortable life however as a true Indian he stand against Britishers because of which he spent end number of years behind the bars.

There is a need to eliminate caste discrimination said Sonia Gandhi

Launching a veiled attack at the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday said there is a need to eliminate caste discrimination in the country. She urged the people to fight against communal forces using Shri Narayana Guru's teaching. The Congress president praised Sree Narayana Guru at the inauguration of annual pilgrimage at Sivagiri Mutt in Kerala. Gandhi said there can be no more betrayal of Sree Narayana Guru's beliefs than attempts to capture his ideology by those who spread bigotry. She stated that Mahatma Gandhi also worked for social equality.

National Herald Case at Patiala House Court

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not achieve his dream of a ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ and Congress won’t bend at any cost. He was speaking after his mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi and himself were granted bail within minutes of the hearing of the National Herald case in a Patiala House court. Bail was granted on Rs.50,000 personal bond and one surety each. Rahul also claimed that the Prime Minister and his government were repeatedly making false accusations against the opposition. Addressing the media, Sonia Gandhi said that the government won’t be able to destroy the Congress and added that the latter will try their best to bring the truth out. She also said that the BJP is targeting them intentionally and won’t achieve success.

Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi pay homage to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on his 126th birth anniversary

Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi paid floral tributes to country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru as the nation celebrates his 126th birth anniversary on Saturday. Former PM Manmohan Singh also came to pay tribute to Nehru at his memorial in Shantivan. Cultural programs were organised in the memory of late Pandit Nehru who played an eminent role in India’s freedom struggle. President Pranab Mukherjee was a part of the tribute paying ceremony at Shantivan. Vice President Hamid Ansari also paid floral tribute to Nehru. Bihar: Sonia Gandhi addresses Congress poll rally at Bhagalpur, takes on Modi govt

Congress president Sonia Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of reneging on his poll promises and described his special package for Bihar as a “political bluff”, saying the PM had little time for people’s problems as he was mostly busy with foreign trips. “The Congress is fully committed to continuing the facility of reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs as per constitutional provisions,” she said at a well-attended election rally in Kahalgaon, 37 km east of Bhagalpur. Sonia Gandhi alleged the BJP-led government at the Centre and (the RSS mandarins at) Nagpur were playing a “fixed match” over job reservation for the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes.

Sonia Gandhi began her two day visit to her constituency Raebareli from Wednesday. She unveiled the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at the Zila Panchayat campus and garlanded the statue Indira Gandhi. Expressing serious concerns over the bad shape of roads here, the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee in a meeting chaired by Congress President Sonia Gandhi decided to write a letter to the central government to release funds meant for Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY).

Nation remembers Rajiv Gandhi on his 71st birth anniversary

President Pranab Mukherjee led the nation in paying homage to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 71st birth anniversary on Thursday. Congress President and Rajiv Gandhi's wife Sonia Gandhi, son Rahul Gandhi, daughter Priyanka Gandhi, son-in-law Robert Vadra and granddaughter Miraya Vadra paid tribute at his memorial, Vir Bhumi, in New Delhi. Vice-President Hamid Ansari and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also paid homage to Rajiv Gandhi. Birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi is observed as Sadbhavna Diwas (harmony day) in the country. Rajiv Gandhi became the youngest PM of the country when he took office after his mother Indira Gandhi's assassination on October 31, 1984. Rajiv was killed by an ethnic Tamil suicide bomber while campaigning in an election in the south Indian town of Sriperumbudur in May 1991.
