Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi speech at Parliament

I listened to the prime minister a few days ago talk about our constitution. He spoke for over an hour and praised the people who in his view were the architects of the document that allows me to speak here today. He mentioned Gandhi ji, he praised Ambedkar ji, he spoke about the contribution of Rajendra Prasad, Vallabh bhai Patel and he even had a couple of words for Jawaharlal Nehru.

Rahul Gandhi in Odisha says Modi govt only focussing on a few industrialists, ignoring farmers

Bargarh (Odisha): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday began his two-day visit to Odisha. He accused the Narendra Modi led NDA regime at the Centre of favouring a few industrialists and ignoring farmers, some of whom had committed suicide because of their inability to clear their debts or due to crop failure. Interacting with the families of farmers who had committed suicide and other farmers in Bargarh, Odisha, Rahul Gandhi said, “The families of farmers who committed suicide are being ignored by the Government of India, which is focussing only on a few industrialists.” Rahul Gandhi also described the Land Reorganisation Bill being introduced in Parliament by the ruling NDA as “anti-farmer”.

Nation remembers Rajiv Gandhi on his 71st birth anniversary

President Pranab Mukherjee led the nation in paying homage to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 71st birth anniversary on Thursday. Congress President and Rajiv Gandhi's wife Sonia Gandhi, son Rahul Gandhi, daughter Priyanka Gandhi, son-in-law Robert Vadra and granddaughter Miraya Vadra paid tribute at his memorial, Vir Bhumi, in New Delhi. Vice-President Hamid Ansari and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also paid homage to Rajiv Gandhi. Birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi is observed as Sadbhavna Diwas (harmony day) in the country. Rajiv Gandhi became the youngest PM of the country when he took office after his mother Indira Gandhi's assassination on October 31, 1984. Rajiv was killed by an ethnic Tamil suicide bomber while campaigning in an election in the south Indian town of Sriperumbudur in May 1991.
