BJP-led NDA PM’s statements confused people: Congress

BJP was able to come to power in 1998 by entering into opportunistic alliance with other parties. It was a stratagem to mislead the people and defeat their mandate. BJP President Banagaru Laxman was caught on camera taking bribe and demanding more money in dollars.  Neither BJP party nor BJP Prime Minister condemned this corruption in strong terms.  Rather matter was hushed up.  When kickback deals at the official residence of NDA government’s Defense Minister appeared in news, first Defence Minister was removed and again within six months he was brought back even before the inquiry was completed against him. The then PM without waiting for the inquiry report said the Defence Minister was not involved. This was unbelievable to people. Similarly was the policy in the cases of Gujarat riots and Ayodhya controversy.  The BJP PM would condemn these incidents in equivocal terms.  People did not know whether he was speaking about Gujarat riots or destruction of Babri Masjid.
