Mayawati ignored welfare of poor Muslims: Congress (I)

Taking a dig at Mayawati government, Congress (I) has said Mayawati ignored not only welfare of poor but of poor Muslims as well for she felt she needed money much more than the poor people.  That is why all along last five years Mayawati has been busy making money for herself rather than spending on schemes for development of the state and its people.  Rahul Gandhi has assured the people including Muslim that Congress (I) is committed for over all development. More than 70 per cent weavers in the state are Muslims for whom Congress-led UPA government has announced a loan waiver.  A special package for the handloom weavers of Poorvanchal has already been announced by Central government. Recommendations of Sachhar Committee for educational and economic development of Muslims are being implemented in Congress (I) ruled states.  Rahul Gandhi assured to implement them in Uttar Pradesh too for which, he called upon people vote in favor of Congress (I).

Rahul Gandhi in Maharajganj (UP)

http://pressbrief.in/
On the fourth day of his tour to Uttar Pradesh Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi lashed out at Mayawati Government for the misuse of the fertilizers and urea sent by the Centre. “We sent fertilizers to Uttar Pradesh for the farmers but they are being black-marketed in Nepal. As a result the farmers in the state do not get the required fertilizers and urea sent by the Union Government,” he said.
He was addressing a well attended rally at Maharajganj near the UP-Nepal border on the last day of his UP tour as part of the Congress campaign for the upcoming assembly polls. Referring the farmers’ issues Congress General Secretary claimed that the Congress Governments realizes not just the strength of the farmers but also the difficulties faced by them. “Congress Governments in states like Delhi, Haryana or Andhra Pradesh have been making policies aiming for the welfare of the farmers. They acquire the lands of farmers by paying adequate compensation. But in Uttar Pradesh, BSP Government grabbed the poor farmers’ land in the Ganga and Yamuna Expressways forcibly. Did not pay proper compensation and sold it to the builders. When the farmers agitated, they were labeled as Naxals,” he argued.
“In Tappal and Bhatta-Parsaul farmers were assaulted by the BSP Government. Police fired at the agitating farmers when they were merely resisting the wrong and forceful land acquisition. When the farmers asked for the adequate compensation for their own land the government authorities called them Naxals. Mayawati Government gave no justice but only bullets to the farmers,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Our party is the oldest party of this country. In pre independence era the Congress party encouraged the new generation in every part of the country to come forward and provided opportunity to them.
Rajivji believed that our youth will take the country in the forefront of the first row of nations. His decision to provide voting rights at the age of 18 years gave lakhs of youngsters to participate in the democratic process.
Today, Indian youth have registered their presence in the country and abroad in every field. Talented youth should be brought in politics and that's the need of the hour. Your election, your training and your involvement will help in nation building. The process of training which has started is commendable. The very first time you have brought in accountability of the assignment as one's identity. This will help to strengthen the party from the grass root till the top. You all are the foundation of the party and country's hope.
The process of change which has started has given you the elected representatives a very big responsibility. You have to ascertain that the faith which has been shown in you shouldn't go waste. Bapu challenged, questioned and refined every idea he ever had

Congress General Secretary while addressing the elected representatives of Youth Congress said, “ Bapu challenged, questioned and refined every idea he ever had. He developed leadership in people around him by encouraging them.
A leader in the Indian tradition is not someone who leads people , she is someone who knows how to lead herself.
Gandhiji believed that all human beings have right to political expression. He never sought to control or own the Congress party. Gandhiji not only changed the organization, he changed the people within it.
Today we don't have a Gandhiji. That's why we are using the system of elections and democratization which will enable the Youth Congress to open itself for the youth of this country."

A government that reaches you, listen to you and understand your problems. You can see Congress Governments in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana or Delhi. We serve the poor in all those states. Rahul Gandhi at Khushi Nagar “People from U.P help developing other states”

http://pressbrief.in/
Attacking the state government Rahul Gandhi said that in Uttar Pradesh the real problem is the government, not the people. “They do not come to you to know your pain. They do not listen to you. The government represents only 10% of the society and it works only for them and the funds for the rest 90% are being looted. So you should not let such things happen in your state”.

Rahul Gandhi at Khushi Nagar, U.P “Fertilizers for the farmers being black-marketed”

http://pressbrief.in/
Expressing his anger over the bad conditions in the state Rahul Gandhi said “I feel angry for the fact that the people of Uttar Pradesh help other countries to develop. The shining metro in Delhi was made by the labours from UP. The roads and buildings in Mumbai were built by them. Who are reaping the benefits of your labour, the respective states. But no jobs are available here in U.P. How can they get jobs without having proper roads, sufficient electricity and water? If your state and you are not developing, you will have to go to other places like Maharashtra, Punjab and Delhi and you have been doing so. We need better development and infrastructure. We need roads, electricity and sufficient water.

“All states, Maharashtra, Haryana, Mumbai, Kerala or Andhra Pradesh, are also surging ahead. The responsibility of the Government is to bring development. But what is happening in Uttar Pradesh? No roads, no electricity or water” he complained. Lamenting over the poor infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh Rahul Gandhi said that the roads in Uttar Pradesh last only 3 months. “The roads are languishing in dilapidated state and are littered with gutters and potholes. Because the funds meant for the roads and other amenities are being diverted to the pockets of ministers and contractors”.

“We sent fertilizers to Uttar Pradesh for the farmers but they are being black-marketed in Nepal. As a result the farmers in the state do not get the required fertilizers and urea sent by the Union Government,” he argued.
Commenting on the misuse of Central funds Rahul Gandhi said, “The money sent through the MGNREGA does not reach the poor. Same is the case with the Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY). The scheme meant for the benefit of the poor women is also being misused in Uttar Pradesh. Every poor woman is entitled to get Rs 1,400 under this scheme to meet the expenses for the delivery. But in Uttar Pradesh the money meant for the poor women do not reach them. Instead they are forced to bribe the hospital authorities to avail the benefit. This clearly indicates that the money that should have actually reached the poor is not reaching them.”

Referring the farmers’ issues Congress General Secretary claimed that the Congress Governments realizes not just the strength of the farmers but also the difficulties faced by them. “Congress Governments have been making policies aiming for the welfare of the farmers. They acquire the lands of farmers by paying adequate compensation. When rich people sell their lands, they get proper price for the land. He went on to say “I also travel by Helicopter, but I go to people too. When you go to people, mingle with them, talk to them, share meals with the, stay with them, drink water from their well, get sick then only you will be able to realize their problems. Leaders should come out of Helicopters and should go to the masses.”
Expressing his concern over the pathetic conditions of the hospitals in U.P “I went to a hospital in UP where some painting and renovation works were going on. I went inside. There were no doctors, patients or nurses. Dogs were scampering inside. I asked them what is going on. They said that Mayawati is on a tour to this area and she will be visiting the hospital and therefore the renovation. As she was expected to take the road route so the roads were being repaired and the hospital building was being painted,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi at Khushi Nagar, U.P on Congress-led UPA’s MGNREGA

http://pressbrief.in/
Appreciating the efforts of the Congress-led UPA Government at the centre Rahul Gandhi said “Our Government came to you, listened to you to realize your problems. You told us that you are not able to fetch a job in your villages, but the rich people do get it. We therefore designed the biggest employment generation scheme MGNREGA for the benefit of the poor. Through the MGNREGA policy every poor person is assured of a minimum of 100 days jobs in a year with a daily wage of Rs 120, thus Rs 12,000 per year is guaranteed. All the states welcomed this policy and implemented it at their places. You go to Andhra Pradesh or any other places, you can experience that. In all these states the funds meant for the scheme reach to the people. You can find the details from the internet. Ask anybody in Andhra Pradesh or Kerala about the most beneficial scheme of the Central Government. Without any doubt most will say it is MGNREGA. All other states like Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Rajasthan, Haryana or Delhi all are benefitted by this scheme”. Taking a dig at Mayawati he continued “But your Chief Minister says that MGNREGA is not beneficial. Mayawati has said that publically also during a rally in 2007 at Lucknow. She will say that the scheme is of no use for you because she doesn’t come to you and realize your pain. If she goes to the poor they will tell her about the benefit of the scheme. But she stays in Lucknow and travels by Helicopter.”

Rahul Gandhi: Whenever there is a change, initially people make fun of it but finally they acceept

http://pressbrief.in/
Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today inaugurated the Youth Congress Convention in Rohini, Delhi. While addressing a massive rally of newly-elected office-bearers of the Youth Congress Rahul Gandhi urged the youth of the country to work together and cleanse the political system in the country.
“Corruption is most rampant in the political parties in our country. So this political system is to be cleansed and changed. Only the youth of the country can do so. So be ready, work together, change the system” said the Congress General Secretary in-charge of the Youth Congress and NSUI. The two day convention called “Buniyaad’ is the first of its kind in the history of the Youth Congress and is being attended by 8,000-odd elected members from across the country.
"All other parties follow the process of nomination. But the Youth Congress reflects voices that are democratically elected. Not Rahuljee or any other senior leaders selected you, you are here on the basis of your own merit, strength and capacity. Wherever I travel, I see how you are helping change the attitude" said Rahul Gandhi amidst great applauds. “India's youth must help usher in change", he added.
The Congress General Secretary appreciated the efforts to strengthen democracy in the Youth Congress. “During my initial interactions with the friends of Youth Congress, they complained that their voices go unheard in the organization”. “So we started the process of democratization in the Youth Congress (YC). We started it from Punjab and have now implemented in most of other states. Whenever there is a change initially people make fun of it, then they watch and finally they change themselves”, he claimed.
Boosting the confidence of the Youth Congress workers Rahul Gandhi added “If you have faith and confidence in yourself, nobody can stop you from reaching the top. If you continue to work hard for YC and the Congress you can reach miles ahead.”
Rahul Gandhi also appraised the YC members regarding the democratic elections in the outfit. “We ensured that the elections in the Youth Congress are free and fair. We adopted a method similar to the method adopted by the Election Commission of India. Even opposition parties admit that election in the YC is free and fair.”
Reiterating the need of involvement of the youth in politics the Congress General Secretary added “Previously the doors of the politics were closed for the youth. Members came to politics through nominations and recommendations and not on merit. Such leaders were not able to perform satisfactorily and they lacked contact with the masses.” and asked the emerging leaders to work for the cause of common man. “You are not like that. So go to the people, take out people’s issues, talk to them and mingle with them. Poverty is a serious matter of concern. India cannot be shinning till the day there is no poor person in the country. So fight for the poor, fight for aam aadmi”, he urged.
Rahul Gandhi also underlined the role of senior leaders and said “The youth cannot work alone. Do not think that you are the bonded labourers of the party. Seniors are there to guide you and work with you. We need to blend experience with the youth”.
Pouring more positive energy into the young members Rahul Gandhi added “I want to tell the youth that our system is open for all. Our election is free and fair. So please join Youth Congress and fight for the progress of the country”.
Exuding confidence among the cadres he went on saying “We have full faith in you. So get ready to fight against corruption. Go to villages and try to know their issues. change the system by fighting for the poor”.
Taking a dig at other parties he commented “In other parties, senior leaders command and junior leaders obey. But in the Congress all members come to the party on their ability and strength. Not one of you has come from the sky through a parachute. You know what I mean by that”.
“So, all of you have come on your own strength. Now let us work together and change the country” concluded Rahul Gandhi.
The convention will also be addressed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi during the valedictory session on Tuesday.

Mayawati has betrayed dalits and poor: Congress (I)

Congress (I) has accused Mayawati for neither being consistent in her ideology nor truthful to dalits and poor on whose votes she came to form government in Uttar Pradesh. First she based her politics on dalait vote bank and openly expressed outright hatred for other classes like Brahim, Khatris and Banias. She soon realized that this would not work for long.  Then she invented ‘social engineering’ and brought in opportunists and persons of criminal background from other classes.  Such opportunists have no faith in BSP ideology much less any inclination to work for dalits or poor, said Congress (I).  People believing in Mayawati’s promises voted for her.  But no sooner Mayawati and her opportunist legislators got into power they got busy in corrupt practices to make money for themselves at the cost of poor people. The dalits and poor are now feeling betrayed and determined to vote out corrupt Mayawati in coming Assembly elections in 2012.

Rahul Gandhi in Dumariyaganj, Uttar Pradesh, Part-1

http://pressbrief.in/

On the fourth day of his tour to Uttar Pradesh Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi took a dig at BJP by questioning the ‘India Shining’ slogan during the 2004 Parliament elections. Addressing a huge gathering at Dumariyaganj in Uttar Pradesh as a part of his campaign in the state for the upcoming assembly elections he said that the BJP failed to note the problems of the people and claimed that India was shining.
“They brought the ‘India Shining’ slogan because their leaders do not go to people, do not mingle with them and do not share their meals. As a result they could not understand the poor state of affairs in the villages and thought that India was shining. Some senior leaders without trying to ascertain the actual situation; sitting inside TV studios and declared that India is shining. But that is not the truth. What is shining then? It was their houses, their vehicles that were shining but the poor people continued to struggle,” he added.
He categorically stated that that India cannot be shinning till the day there is no poor person in the country. He underlined that the Congress is committed to work for the poor, dalits, adivasis and underprivileged by stating the Congress slogan – a government of aam aadmi, a government for development.

Rahul Gandhi at Bahraich says "a leader should go to the people to know ...

AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi began his five-day tour of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday from Barabanki. He criticized the non-Congress Governments in the state for not doing anything constructively for the development in Uttar Pradesh. He also alleged that the welfare funds sent by the UPA Government at the centre are not reaching the poor man.
Rahul Gandhi went on to say "till your leader goes to the people, experiences the problems being faced by them, stays with them, eat at their home and drink water from their houses, he cannot understand the gravity of their pain. When I go to the villages some people laugh at me. They ask whey Rahul Gandhi is going to a dalit or a poor man's home. Rahul Gandhi goes to a poor man's home to understand their issues, to realize their strength. The strength the poor people of Uttar Pradesh have, you will not see anywhere. But in U.P there are no facilities or infrastructure available. No adequate water, roads or electricity here. So people from U.P go to other places like Maharashtra and Punjab".

Rahul Gandhi in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh final part_3

http://pressbrief.in/

On the second day of his UP tour Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi took on the Mayawati- led BSP Government in the state. Addressing a Congress workers’ meet at Nanpara, Rahul Gandhi argued that the UP Government has been looting the Central welfare funds meant for the poor.
Questioning Mayawati’s ambiguous stand vis-à-vis MGNREGA Rahul Gandhi wondered, “UP Chief Minister has been saying that MGNREGA is not a useful scheme for the state. But yesterday, she claimed that she never said that MGNREGA is of no use. However, in October 2007 Mayawati during a rally in Lucknow had said that state of Uttar Pradesh will not be benefitted from the scheme. You can check the newspaper records for that. In my opinion Mayawati is wrong. Every poor person in this country will benefit from this employment guarantee scheme. ”

On the third day of his tour to Uttar Pradesh Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi reiterated that he will continue with the bait of going to the people to know their problems. He was addressing a rally at Pachperwa in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh as a part of the Congress campaign for the upcoming assembly polls.
"Every time whenever I mingle with the poor, visit their houses and share meals with them, some senior leaders while sitting inside TV studios mock at me. They call such things a drama of Rahul Gandhi," he told a gathering. "If mixing with the people to understand their problems and issues is a drama, I will continue with this drama throughout my life. I will go to their houses. I will eat their food. I will drink water from their well. I may fall sick; no problem. But I will not stop this" said Rahul Gandhi amidst loud applauds.
Appreciating the performance of the Congress Governments Congress General Secretary said, “The UPA Government at the centre has been working for the benefits of the common man, poor, dalit, adivasis and underprivileged. All the Congress led Governments at various places like Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Delhi continue with efforts of serving the common man. We made policies like MGNREGA, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and Janani Suraksha Yojana for the benefits of the poor in the country”. He then added “By the MGNREGA policy every poor person is assured of a minimum of 100 days jobs in a year with a daily wage of Rs120. We sanctioned amounts under this scheme to Uttar Pradesh also. Day before yesterday only we sanctioned a huge fund for the state. We sanctioned Rs. 3000/- crore funds for Bundelkhand too. But the amount does not reach you” and urged “In Uttar Pradesh also you should bring in a Government which listens to you.”
Rahul Gandhi also expressed his concern over the pathetic conditions in the hospitals in the state. “I went to a hospital in UP where some painting and renovation works were going on. He advised Mayawati to go to the people and listen to their grievances.

Adding further he said, “last time we had sanctioned Rs 5,000 crore under MGNREGA to the UP Government and yesterday we again sanctioned Rs 12,000 crore. But the sad part is that this amount does not reach the common man in the state. When I asked the people of UP they said that the MGNREGA policy is good but the benefits do not reach them. This is quite sad as this money does not belong to the central government or the state Government or the ministers it is your money. Still you are denied of it.”

Rahul Gandhi at Nanpara, U.P challenges Mayawati’s stand on MGNREGA

http://pressbrief.in/

Rahul is a worry for the BSP

The growing popularity of and trust on the AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi among the people of Uttar Pradesh has created worries for the Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati who has recently been attacking the Congress.
It is still not forgotten that the Congress succeeded in attracting sections of the upper castes in the 2009 Lok Sabha election and surprised most of the people including the political class.
The Grand old party’s prospects in the state, was pushed up by the impressive gains in the last general election. The Youth Congress leader had given so much of his efforts to revive the party from the root level in the heartland state. Rahul took note of the ground reality and then took measures accordingly.
The Youth Congress icon has been instrumental in setting the stage for the Congress to enter the much awaited political battle of 2012 that has made the political aficionados and the think tanks of the major political parties of the country hold their nerves.

Addressing a Congress workers’ meet at Gaind Ghar Ground, Bahraich on the second day of his UP tour AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi lashed out at the Mayawati Government. He said that the BSP Government has been misusing all the welfare schemes brought in by the Central Government meant for the poor.
Speaking to the Congress workers assembled in large numbers Rahul Gandhi said, “my family has a good relationship with Behrauch. It was from here Rajiv Gandhi made the historic announcement to reduce the age limit to vote from 21 to 18.” He also said that he learnt the habit of going to the villages and meeting the people from his grand mother and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Referring the UPA Government policies Congress General Secretary added, “While campaigning for the Parliament elections in 2004 Congress has promised to form a government that would work for the common man. We had promised a government that works for the poor, dalits and adivasis. With the implementation of schemes like MGNREGA, Janani Suraksha Yojana, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and Right to Education all aiming the benefit of the poor we have indeed delivered.” Underlining the significance of the MGNREGA scheme, Rahul Gandhi said, “by the MGNREGA policy poor persons are assured of a minimum of 100 days jobs in a year with a daily wage of Rs120. Expressing concerns over the misuse of MGNREGA funds by the BSP Government Rahul Gandhi commented, “we do sanction funds under this scheme to the UP Government as well. Whatever amount the Uttar Pradesh Government demanded from the Centre we sanctioned it. Whether it is Rs 10 or Rs 10 lakh we sent it. But actually what is happening? Your Chief Minister says that MGNREGA is of no use. When all other states are admitting that MGNREGA is the most useful policy and many poor people make the job cards and enjoy the benefit of the scheme, BSP Government says that the scheme is of no use. I remember in October 2007 too Chief Minister Mayawati during a rally had repeated that the MGNREGA is not beneficial. In fact the funds sent by the Centre pocketed by the ministers."

Mayawati’s game of brinkmanship is now over: Congress (I)

With all eyes now set on Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh in early 2012 Congress (I) said time has come for Mayawati’s to explain her misdeeds of corruption to the people of the state.  So far for long over the last eight years Mayawati was claiming that she was committed to bring Brashtachar mukt prashashan while cases of corruption, crime and mismanagement of the state administration kept in increasing day by day. Whenever things too hot to handle as a result of exposure of corruption or crime cases, she used to drop the concerned minister to make up for her dented image.  This proven trick worked conveniently for Mayawati, said Congress (I) adding that but not any more now. Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has reason to be angry with cases of corruption exponentially increasing in Uttar Pradesh for he represents the state a MP from UP in the Parliament.  Rahul Gandhi will continue to fight for justice for the people of the state till corrupt government of Mayawati is ousted, said Congress (I).

Rahul Gandhi in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh Part-2

Regarding the relief package for the Weavers, Rahul Gandhi said “some of the delegates of the Bunkars came to me and said that if the scheme is implemented through the state run Society, the money will not reach them. So we changed the policy and made such a scheme that the money would directly reach the Bunkar’s bank account. We also introduced a credit card for them. Further Rs. 3000 cr worth interest is waived off.” Referring the inefficient state Government, Congress General Secretary said “the Central Government is forced to deposit the amount directly to the individual account because of the inability of the state Government. UPA Government is ready to do more work for the poor, but U.P Government will not help those schemes to reach you. Unless you do not change the state Government, you cannot change your future. If the Government of Uttar Pradesh is changed, the entire U.P will change, the entire picture of U.P will be different.”
“Today India has got enough funds. The problem is that it is not reaching the common man. Now we are introducing a UID card” said Rahul Gandhi elaborating the benefits of the UID card scheme. “Now people have different cards issued by different authorities. Through the UID card scheme, every citizen will have a single card like your ration card, NREGA job card etc. Every person will be having a unique card with a unique number which will include all the details of the person. So when the Centre sends any amount it will directly go to his bank account. “
“For the past 20 years, the funds meant for the development of the state do not reach you. The money is being pocketed by the ministers, bureaucrats and politicians. We want the money meant for you should reach you directly. Our Government will ensure the same. And a Congress Government will be a Government for the poor and will work for the common man’s cause and will not be working for any particular caste or religion” he added. Rahul Gandhi also assured “we will bring back the glory in Uttar Pradesh. We will bring the state back on track”.
“Today if U.P wants to bring any progress in the fields of IT, it is not able to do. Bangalore has become the IT hub now. If U.P wants to progress in the field of Industry, it is not able to do so because Tamil Nadu has become the prime centre for the industry. Uttar Pradesh is going backwards. If you and your state are not developing, you will have to go to other places like Maharashtra, Punjab and Delhi and you have been doing so. We need better development and infrastructure. We need roads, electricity and sufficient water. We will do it for you” assured Rahul Gandhi. “In the next ten years, we will bring U.P to the forefront of development. The country is looking towards Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and Maharashtra but is not looking towards Uttar Pradesh. We should change this. SP and BSP did a lot of talks but you know what they did in the past 20 years. They will continue their anti-poor policies if they get power again” warned Rahul Gandhi. “You go to Kerala, Assam or Delhi and experience the developments there. We will together change Uttar Pradesh. I am sure that the Congress will win the next elections. We will work together, fight together for a better Uttar Pradesh” said Rahul Gandhi concluding his speech.

Rahul Gandhi in barabanki, uttar Pradesh Part-1

AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi began his five-day tour of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday from Barabanki. He reached Lucknow Airport in the morning and went directly to Barabanki. He lashed out at the BSP Government in Uttar Pradesh and said that the Welfare funds sent by the UPA Government at the centre are not reaching the poor man. Rahul Gandhi also underlined the importance of the UID card, the relief packages for the weavers and MGNREGA.
“The state of Uttar Pradesh has a good family relation with my family. I came to Barabanki during the last elections, and you elected a Congress candidate from here. I am thankful for the same. Some people say that all other parties are strong but Congress is not having adequate funds. But the real strong party is the one which works honestly. The strength is not acquired through money but through the people” said the Congress General Secretary. He further added “the Governments of BJP, BSP and SP were anti-poor. They did nothing for the benefit of the poor people. But Congress is a party which is committed to work for the poor. Congress wants to install a pro-poor, pro-people Government in Uttar Pradesh. Congress cannot win the elections if the Congress workers do not work in full strength as the sincere cadres of the party is the strength of Congress. And I am confident that they will work hard for the success of the party.”
Regarding various welfare schemes implemented by the Congress-led UPA Government at the centre, Rahul Gandhi said “From 2004, The UPA is in power at the centre. UPA Government keeps sending money to all the states and it sends huge amount for the state of Uttar Pradesh too for its development. We are ready to send more. But it doesn’t reach you.” We made good schemes like MGNREGA and sanctioned huge amounts to ensure jobs to all. But is it reaching you? Where is the fund going? He asked adding “It goes to middlemen, ministers, politicians and bureaucrats. Your Chief Minister says that there is no need for MGNREGA. You go to any place across the country. Everyone says about the benefits of MGNREGA. But your Chief Minister does not need that. Ministers and contractors are being benefitted in Uttar Pradesh.”
Referring JSY scheme Rahul Gandhi said “you must have heard about Janansi Suraksha Yojana (JSY). But the scheme meant for the benefit of the poor women is also being misused in Uttar Pradesh. The money meant for the poor women do not reach them. There are reported cases that there are women who deliver baby every week! The money which actually should have reached the poor women is not reaching them. Same is the case with the loan waiver schemes for the farmers. It is your future and the future of the common man. The Chief Minister, bureaucrats or ministers do not lose any, but it is the common man who is the real loser.”

Mayawati has no funds for sick but plays tax host for Formula One: Congress (I)

Congress (I) has said Mayawati seems to have realized that days of her BSP government are short and even getting murkier as scores of corruption and crime cases against her ministers and legislators are coming out in the public.  Instead of tidying up the government, streamlining the administrative machinery and undertaking welfare schemes for poor she is building parks and statues.  She is claiming short of funds to meet the outbreak of viral encephalitis which has killed hundred of children.  But at the same time she is playing host for the Formula One, which the elite sport. This is an event where the State Government has granted a tax exemption to the organizing company. In no way the Formula One serve to better the society that it should deserve a tax exemption. This is an event whose venue has been created by forceful acquisition of agricultural land and goes on to get a tax exemption. All this shows Mayawati has no commitment towards welfare of the people of the state, said Congress (I).

Mayawati merely preaches: Congress (I)

Congress (I) has said Mayawati has lately started preaching BSP party men to watch their conduct.  . Recently due to public outcry Mayawati had to suspend BSP MLA Shahnawaz Rana for involvement of his aides in kidnapping and rape of two girls.  Rana's case confirms that Behenji's bhaiyyas have not improved their conduct at all, said Congress (I).  Rana's uncle, Kadir Rana is BSP MP from Muzaffarnagar. Both have criminal cases pending against them and are notorious for their muscle power in west UP. In that case charges were for setting a police post on fire during the 2004 Lok Sabha elections after Shahnawaz, who was BSP candidate for Kairana, was arrested for misbehaving with an election observer. When Mayawati herself has been involved in corruption cases how can she expect good public conduct from her party men, said Congress (I).

Rahul Gandhi intervenes to implement relief package for U.P weavers

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi once again expressed his feeling towards the common man by intervening to highlight the plight of weavers in Uttar Pradesh. He had written a letter to the minister requesting him to implement the already sanctioned Rs. 3000 crore package for the weavers and the Union Cabinet has agreed to announce a relief package for weavers in Varanasi that may include waiver of debt for both co-operative societies and individual weavers and a credit card for weavers.
The mission to find a solution to weavers’ problems started long back when Rahul Gandhi received a letter from Abdussalam, a former MLA from Mubarakpur on 18th December 2010, narrating the pathetic conditions of the weavers in the area. On 23rd February 2011, Rahul Gandhi with representatives of weavers’ community met the Prime Minister and apprised him regarding the problems being faced by them. Within a week, the Union Government, in its budget in February 28, 2011 announced the relief package for the bunkars. During his visit to Uttar Pradesh Congress General Secretary had again taken up this issue when he met the weavers in the months of July and November 2011.

Rahul Gandhi will redeem UP from corrupt Mayawati govt.

Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is working hard to redeem people of UP from corrupt Mayawati government. People are now recalling that it was Congress (I) which under the leadership of Nehru had started mega projects in Uttar Pradesh.  Once upon a time UP was standard bearer of the country but the same state is now lagging behind.  Why? The only answer the people find is that non-Congress governments over the last twenty years have ruined the state. Once in central UP Kanpur was known as Manchester of east. Today it is junk yard of closed factories. Once sugar mills in eastern UP were in abundance but are now in despair.  Irrigation canals are drying up and land acquisition has been badly handled by Mayawati government. Rahul Gandhi has already demonstrated his able leadership qualities during 2009 Parliament elections in UP. It is Rahul Gandhi who on the basis of solid foundation build initially (during Nehru’s period) is going to work out promising future of the state of UP, Congress (I) said.

Mayawati’s involvement in Taj corridor scam: Congress (I)

Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said Uttar Pradesh is the most corrupt state in the country.  It is because the entire government from top to bottom is involved in corruption. When the Chief Minister has been involved in corruption cases how can one expect minister, legislators, state officials and police to be free from corruption, said Congress (I). Everybody knows Mayawati has been involved in corruption cases.  That is why the Chief Minister has not been able to root out corruption from the state she has been ruling so long. It was Mayawati who was involved in The Taj Heritage corridor scam.  It involved government allotment of large tracts of land along the proposed corridor to a private builder for a song. The CBI's affidavit was filed in response to Mayawati's lawsuit, seeking the apex court's direction to scrap the corruption case against her. Presently all parties in the state are demanding that properties acquired by Mayawati after 2007 should be investigated because of rampant corruption in the state, said Congress (I).

Rahul Gandhi Warns Nation against Globalisation

Rahul Gandhi’s subtle but outspoken voice has once again woven echoes of curiosity and reasoning. The Congress scion, widely seen as India's prime minister-in-waiting, has sounded a stark warning about globalisation, saying it "excludes as much as includes".
Rahul, 41, made the remarks while giving the 20th anniversary lecture of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies in New Delhi. "The local networks that protected them no longer exist," he added.
He urged people to incorporate the Buddhist idea of "compassion" into their lives to meet the challenges posed by globalisation. This notion of his driven by his secular thought and respect to all religion.
“While a new ‘mobile and dynamic’ India is emerging,” he said, "that does not mean that our success is inevitable." Rahul said there were also major areas of want and neglect in a country where three-quarters of the 1.2 billion population survive on less than $2 a day, according to the World Bank. His facts and figures were very correct and selective, as has always been.
Rahul also said that increasing urbanisation in India was leaving many people behind. "Today’s migration is tremendous and dynamic, but it is a process that leaves people bereft of justice and of rights," he said. Rahul Gandhi’s concern for the threat that globalization can become to the nation, is something to ponder over.

Congress: Crime rate increasing in Uttar Pradesh

Apart from the grave charges of mishandling central funds under social welfare schemes like MGNREGA, the reality of increasing crime has haunted the state of Uttar Pradesh. Now, it is a truth wide open and the Mayawati government is responsible for the fiasco.
The Indian National Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi criticized Mayawati government for the high crime rate in the state. He said, "Uttar Pradesh accounts for up to 33 percent of the total crime registered in the entire country."
"Uttar Pradesh has flourished in all the wrong areas because of the special kindness of this administration and thus Chief Minister. It has flourished in governmental apathy, it has prospered because the Chief Minister has supported wrongdoings; so it has prospered in wrongdoings; bureaucratic nepotism is encouraged and supported by the political bosses of Uttar Pradesh," said Singhvi.
The crime graph in the state has been on a steep rise since the ruling state government came to power. It must be stopped or the current state government would depart like nowhere.
